Due to a water main break outside the Grimes Engineering Center that caused significant flooding within the Kresge Engineering & Mathematical Sciences Library, the library will be closed until further notice. It is expected to reopen later this month.

Students who had materials on hold at the Engineering Library can now pick them up at the Chemistry, Astronomy & Physics Library.

Paging services may be intermittently disrupted, especially over the next few days. If there is a book that you need, please use the “Request from UC Berkeley Library” option in UC Library Search to request it. You can select another nearby library as your pickup location, such as the Doe Library, C. V. Starr East Asian Library, or Chemistry, Astronomy & Physics Library, all of which have evening hours.

The Grimes Engineering Center and its study spaces will remain open. The Carol T. Christ Center for Connected Learning at Moffitt Library offers many collaborative study spaces. Reservable study rooms are available in many campus libraries, including Moffitt, Main (Gardner) Stacks, the East Asian Library, and the Earth Sciences & Map Library.

The UC Berkeley Library and campus are working to reopen the Engineering Library as soon as possible.
