Using the Library during COVID-19

Most of UC Berkeley’s library buildings are open. To stay up to date on the Library’s policies and services during the pandemic, visit the Library’s COVID-19 webpage.

  • All of the UC Berkeley libraries, and the Main (Gardner) Stacks, have at least one Scannx station.
  • Scanner specifications.
  • Large format scanning:
  • Scanning to email, cloud storage and to a USB drive is free except large format scanning.
  • Scanners equipped with auto document feeders are located at the following libraries:
    • Copy Center 105 Doe Library
    • Doe Library floor 2
    • Environmental Design
    • East Asian Library
    • Optometry
    • Physics


  • Public printers only support Letter, Legal or Tabloid sized paper.
  • Pay for printing - UC Berkeley students, faculty and staff pay with their Cal 1 Card.
    • Visitors can request a Cal 1 Guest Card from a library public service desk, or the Copy Center in 105 Doe Library.
  • Submitted print jobs will remain in the queue for two hours. Print jobs are cleared after two hours.

  • To print from your laptop or personal device, go to https://mobileprint.berkeley.edu and log in with your CalNet ID.

Limited free printing for UC Berkeley students

The Open Computing Facility (OCF) in the lower level of the Martin Luther King Student Union provides limited free printing.
