Algeria: Women at War

A documentary on the situation of the woman in Algeria today. Some "Mudjahadines", the women fighters during the war of Independence from the French (1954-1962), recall their own experiences: their hopes and their disillusion after the war, when the Government refused to recognize their role and contribution to the National Liberation Movement. A new generation of women tries to find a path between modern democracy and the fundamentalism of the Islamic faith. c1992. 50 min.
