Scope
This procedure outlines the process for cataloging gift materials in Metadata Services.
This procedure supplements Sending Materials to Metadata Services.
Overview
- Selectors accept gifts based on the Library’s gifts policy.
- Each gift should have a white GIFT flag, which includes the library/location and any notes.
- Gifts are shelved in 42 Doe by language.
- Each language has a section for gifts at the end of the range to keep them separate from new acquisitions.
- "Priority" gifts are shelved to the left on non-priority gifts.
- All gifts are cataloged as a low priority. Gifts identified as a "Priority" should be cataloged before non-priority gifts.
- Catalog gifts in OCLC Connexion as usual. Do not add any copy-specific information to the WorldCat record.
- Create holdings and item records in Alma as usual. Add copy-specific information according to the instructions below.
