Drancy avenir (France, 1997)

Directed by Arnaud des Pallieres. Cast: Aude Amiot, Thierry Bosc, Anne-Lisa Nathan. Presents three stories about the Holocaust and how it affected the lives of three people: one the last Holocaust survivor, one doing research on a concentration camp in Drancy, and the third about a ship's captain and his journey into an unknown territory. This experimental film attempts to address the problem of how to explain to the next generation why Hitler's extermination of Jews and gypsies took place and found support inside and outside Germany. 84 min.

Drylongso (1998)

Directed by Cauleen Smith. Cast: Toby Smith, April Barnett,Will Power, Channel Schafer, Salim Akil. "Drylongso," anAfrican-American expression meaning "getting by with verylittle," presents the story of a young woman in just thatsituation. Living in Oakland, California and frustrated withher own life Pica grabs a camera and decides to document theexistence of young black men, whom she feels are a breed on theverge of becoming extinct. Through this project, she meets manycolorful characters and also suffers the death of herboyfriend.

Duel in the Sun (1946)

East of Hope Street (1998)

Alicia is caught up in the L.A. foster care system where everything that possibly could go wrong, does. Based on true events. El Mariachi (Mexico / USA, 1992)

Directed by Robert Rodriguez. Cast: Carlos Gallardo, Consuelo Gomez, Reinol Martinez, Peter Marquardt. All he wants is to be a mariachi, like his father, his grandfather and his great grandfather before him. But the town he thinks will bring him luck brings only a curse--of deadly mistaken identity. Forced to trade his guitar for a gun, the mariachi is playing for his life. Independent filmmaker, R. Rodriguez financed this film with earnings from a stay in a research hospital using borrowed equipment with no second takes and a talented cast of unknowns. 81 min.
