UC Berkeley Library

You can still access the UC Berkeley Library’s services and resources during the closure. Here’s how.

Using the Library during COVID-19

During the pandemic, many of our services are being offered in new ways. To find the latest information on course reserves, book returns, 24/7 online help, and more, visit our COVID-19 portal, which provides more up-to-date information than the text below.

Interlibrary Services

Content section:

Though The Bancroft Library is a non-circulating library, we do consider some interlibrary requests, such as microfilm loans and limited scans. UC Berkeley Interlibrary Services handles all interlibrary requests, mailing, and billing. Please contact them for more information. An Aeon account is not required for ILL requests.

Through Interlibrary Services, we offer the following:

Microfilm Loans

We are able to loan ONE positive microfilm reel per request, so long as Bancroft holds the master negatives.  We lend microfilm to university, college, research, and public libraries in the United States and to university and college libraries in Canada.

Limited Scans from Printed Materials

Due to preservation concerns, we can only provide scans of up to 32 pages of a printed item, dependent on its condition.  Photocopies are free for requestors from any University of California campus. For all other requestors, a service fee applies.

Please note: Duplication requests for manuscript materials and high-resolution imaging cannot be fulfilled through Interlibrary Services. Such requests must be submitted directly to Bancroft's Duplication Services.
