Academic review:

CAPA reviewed a total of 26 cases. One case remained unresolved as the individual was appointed to a different position during the review cycle. Three cases were for affiliated librarians, 23 from The Library. One ad hoc committee was charged. CAPA was unanimous on all of its recommendations.

Types of reviews:

        Merit/Career status: 2

        Merit/Promotion: 1

        Special: 1

Final decisions:

• The final UL/APO decision for 21 out of 25 cases was what the candidate requested or higher.

• The UL decision differed from the CAPA recommendation in three cases (mostly involving requests or recommendations for “greater than standard.”)

More on Greater than Standard

• Final decision: 6 candidates received a final decision from the UL/APO of a greater than standard increase.

• Candidate request: 6 candidates requested greater than standard increases. CAPA agreed with 5 of those requests. The UL agreed with 3.

LAUC-B 2017 Conference:

Focus on the Visual: Digital Humanities and Libraries

 Date: Friday, October 20, 2017

 Location: David Brower Center

As of 10/5 we have nearly 140 registrants, with additional invited guests and a cap of 160. Brian Quigley has agreed do full introduction after late cancellation of Jeff Mackie-Mason. LAUC Statewide has generously provided $3000 in funding for video and audio recording, as our full estimate is $4,800 — a considerable increase from years past. Our website is up to date and edited for a few minor changes since the program was announced. Celia Emmelhainz is coordinating volunteers after a notice was sent out last week. This year we will not be providing box lunch or catering. A map and restaurant list will be provided for area restaurants. We will also have topical sign up sheets for those who wish to lunch with colleague of similar interests.
