The Library is committed to the growth of our staff so that they can acquire, organize, and interpret information for our patrons. We encourage all employees to make maximum use of training and development programs that enhance job-related skills, opportunities for advancement, and campus committee service.
Supervisors are expected to provide support for employee training to the fullest extent possible without compromising other essential work of The Library. Library management places a high priority on providing the resources that allow this training to go on smoothly at all levels of our organization. What Does SDC Do?
The Staff Development Committee acts as a board of review for represented, non-academic staff applications for funding of educational or career-related activities. The allocation per employee for SDC funding for this fiscal year through June 30, 2021 is $600. Because the SDC budget is limited to $20,000, funding is on a first-come, first-served basis.
SDC also arranges and sponsors staff tours to museums, libraries, and other venues of archival and conservation interest for all staff. SDC tours and presentations support career development and exploration by offering information on educational opportunities, exposure to the varied library-related work of local organizations, and the chance to meet with our colleagues in the community.
How to apply for funding
Non-academic staff interested in applying for development funding through the Staff Development Committee should fill out an online Travel Request form. Please visit our Application Instructions for further details.
