You will be able to choose where to pick up your Interlibrary Loan Books!

You can select your favorite library as a pick up location. When you make your request, look for the dropdown menu in Melvyl or on the IBS Request Form with a list of locations to choose from. You can also continue to return ILL books to any campus library. For books that are restricted to Library Use Only, we will contact you with the location where you can use them.

Some things to remember:

  • Items are held for you for one week only.
  • You will need to pick up your ILL books in person with your current Cal 1 Card, UC Berkeley ID, or Library Card.
  • Extended loan periods will automatically be given to you and will eliminate the need for most renewals.
  • If you don’t return your books after the reminder notices, you will be billed for the full replacement cost of the item.
  • If your item is designated “Library Use only,” you’ll receive an email telling you to go to the room in the library where you can use it. Don’t forget to check your spam folder in case our emails land in there. These books are considered Non Circulating, so they will not show up in your inventory.
  • If you requested an article, My ILL is still the place you can go to retrieve it.
  • Visiting Scholars: Your ILL books will be counted toward your maximum number of checkouts allowed, along with your UC Berkeley check outs.
