Persistent Links in Web of Knowledge Databases
Web of Knowledge databases (BIOSIS, CABI/Global Health, Inspec, Web of Science, Zoological Record) are indexing databases only -- they do not contain full text. You can search these databases to find article citations, then use the UC-eLinks link resolver button ( ) to see if the UC Berkeley Libraries have access to the electronic full text through another vendor.
Directions for creating persistent links across a variety of vendor platforms can be found here.
Alternatively, you can use the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) included in most Web of Knowledge database records to create a persistent link to the full text of that article, as long as UC Berkeley has electronic access to that article. A DOI is the most stable kind of persistent link.
To create persistent links to articles in Web of Knowledge databases using a DOI:
- Select the article from your search results by clicking on the title.
- Find the DOI in the citation information. It will look something like this: 10.1038/nature09678.
- Highlight and copy the DOI. Make sure you omit the "doi:" before the number.

- In your browser's address bar, type the DOI prefix: http://dx.doi.org/
- Paste your copied DOI after the DOI prefix, so it looks like this:

- Be sure to check your link, to make sure that the UCB Libraries have access to this article in electronic format.
