Library Privileges for UC Berkeley Students who are Unregistered Undergraduates or Graduate Students on Filing Fee Status

UC Berkeley undergraduates and graduate students who are completing unfinished course work, or who are on filing fee status, may have their library privileges extended. In order to have your privileges extended you must bring to the Library Privileges Desk:

  • a letter from your advisor/department (on letterhead) affirming your ongoing "good standing" and intention to complete program.
  • your UC Berkeley photo ID
  • payment of $25.00 (check, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover Card accepted)

Once you have supplied these three items your privileges will be extended for six months. You will retain the same privileges you had as an enrolled student; including, but not limited to, the E-Resources via the proxy server.

Students interested in locating forms for initiating filing fee status may consult the Graduate Division Forms & Applications website, or go directly to the Filing Fee application.

Students who are already geographically distant from campus, may send payment via check (payable to "UC Regents") through their department with instructions to forward both the check and pending departmental letter to:
