Troubleshooting problems

The Drupal user login box is not displaying, so I can't log in!

Use either of these links to force Drupal to display this site's Drupal User login box:

I've forgotten my password!

If you've forgotten your password or need a new one, click on the "Science Libraries Staff" link that is at the bottom of each page. You can use the "Request new password" link under the login box to obtain a new password. The Library's Drupal system will send instructions to you in an e-mail message, which usually takes just a moment.

I made changes to a document but I would like to revert to an older version of the document. Is there an easy way to do this?

Since version control is enabled on the science libraries site, it takes just a moment to reload an earlier version of a document. Open up the document and click on the Revisions tab. This will display a list of the previous versions of your document, and you can select the one that you want to use instead of the current version.

The formatting on my page doesn't look right. It used to look fine. Can this be fixed?

It's possible that the document's Input format setting reverted back to the Drupal default setting, which is Filtered HTML. This happens sometimes, particularly if the Drupal system has been updated.

To fix this, open up the document again. Select the Full HTML option, and save your document. This should restore the original document formatting.

When I saved my document, my custom layout or styles disappeared. How can I get them back?

It's possible that the document's Input format setting is incorrect. Open up the document again. Check to see if the Full HTML option is selected, and save your document. This should restore your custom code.

If your custom coding truly has vanished, you can revert to an earlier version of the document. To do this, start by clicking on the Revisions tab. This will display a list of the previous versions of your document, and you can select the one that you want to use instead of the current version. That should restore your custom code. Unfortunately, you'll need to redo any subsequent content changes that you made since that revision.

Some Tips:

Before your save your document, take a look at the Revision information setting. Check the Create new revision box (if it isn't checked), and add a short note to serve as a reminder of the changes and updates that you've made.

Check the Input format settings before saving your document, especially if your document contains extensive custom XHTML code or scripting such as JavaScript-based links or widgets. If you save the document as a Filtered HTML document, you'll lose your custom coding, and your scripts will be removed.

If your document contains scripts, don't use the "Preview" button. It's buggy!
