"The fog became dense, and it took almost two hours to creep across the city and over the Golden Gate Bridge. The moment they entered Marin County on the northern edge of the bridge, the fog lifted. Turning, Thurman could see the upper portions of the tall buildings on the hills of San Francisco piercing the cloud layer. In the dimming light, it left an eerie effect of a city floating in the air, and he remarked upon it.
'It's a city floating on pot,' Junior said as he turned off the freeway into the narrow winding road that curled along the edge of the bay into Sausalito."
