Twenty-one major crops are grown in the Salinas Valley, including strawberries, broccoli, carrots, and sugar beats. Throughout the valley, furrows are a standard two rows to eighty inches, so that tractor-mounted machines for pest control, fertiling, and harvesting can be used interchangeably. Fleixble, cooperative and higly organized agricultural systems have developed in the Salinas Valley with research, planning, and advice from the University Agricultural Extension.
