Show Me! by photographer Will McBride is a sex education book for children and their parents featuring nude photographs of children. It was originally published in Germany, and was translated into English and published in the United States in 1975. In Germany, the book received several awards, but in the US it was challenged as obscene. Although courts decided it was not obscene, it was later challenged under broader laws against child pornography. Eventually, the publisher, St. Martin’s Press, pulled the book after repeated legal challenges and costly fees. The UC Berkeley Education Psychology Library received a copy as a gift; it was deemed too controversial to be publicly available, and was “lost” in processing for many years.
