With its first person accounts in which women openly and frankly share their experiences and thoughts about sexuality and reproductive health, Our Bodies, Ourselves encouraged women to take full ownership of their bodies. Since the first newsprint edition in 1971, Our Bodies, Ourselves has become of a symbol of the feminist movement and an icon of female mpowerment. Revised and reissued every four to six years, OBOS has been translated in 29 languages.
