The Mark Twain Project
has now made available on the Library Web two databases
that have been in use by the Project editors for some time: Outgoing
Letters, comprising records of all the letters by Mark Twain (and
his immediate family) that are known to survive, and Incoming
Letters, comprising records of all the letters that Mark Twain
received and preserved, as well as miscellaneous letters to and by his
extended family and associates. Together, the two databases contain some
28,000 records, searchable by addressee, writer, date, record number,
and keyword in any remaining field.

Women's Resources International is now available. Women's Resources International
is a comprehensive source consisting of ten women's studies databases including
Women's Studies Abstracts. It provides references to books, articles, reports,
media, etc. that are concerned with women and women's issues. Coverage
includes 1972 - present, with semi-annual updates. Women's Resources
International is available from computers on campus or remotely through
Berkeley IP address recognition. From the Library Web home page,
access Women's Resources International via the drop-down menu
of Electronic References Resources. Select Indexes & Abstracts from the menu.

HarpWeek: The Civil War Era (1857-1865)
is now available. HarpWeek is an electronic index of 19th
Century advertising, culture, history, literature, and notable figures
as found in the pages of Harper's Weekly. HarpWeek is available
from computers on campus or remotely through Berkeley IP address recognition.
From the Library Web home page, access HarpWeek via the drop-down
menu of Electronic References Resources. Select Indexes
& Abstracts from the menu.

Contemporary Women's Issues is now available. This international database provides
full-text access to journals, hard-to-find newsletters, reports, pamphlets,
fact sheets, and guides regarding a broad array of gender-related issues
(e.g., violence, economic development, health, the military, education,
human rights, law). Contemporary Women's Issues is available
from computers on campus or remotely through Berkeley IP address recognition.
From the Library Web home page, access Contemporary Women's Issues
via the drop-down menu of Electronic References Resources. Select
Indexes & Abstracts from the menu.

Polling
the Nations is now available. This database is a compilation
of questions and responses from more than 6500 national, state, local and
special surveys in the US and over 60 other countries. The surveys date
from 1986 and contain information on over 3000 social, political and economic
issues. Polling the Nations is available from computers on campus
or remotely through Berkeley IP address recognition.

Statistical Universe
is now available. This web based program provides access to all statistics
issued by the U.S. government back to 1973. Statistical Universe
is available from computers on campus or remotely through Berkeley IP address
recognition. From the Library Web home page, access Statistical
Universe via the drop-down menu of Electronic References Resources.

Beyond
the Basics: Advanced Pathfinder and Electronic Resources Overview Fall
1998. All of the classes will be offered in October, and
all of the classes will be held in 350C Moffitt Library (3rd Floor
Moffitt Seminar Room)

Lexis-Nexis® Academic
Universe is now available. This web based program of Lexis-Nexis®
provides access to thousands of full text news, business and legal sources.
Academic Universe is available from computers on campus or remotely
through Berkeley IP address recognition. From the Library Web home
page, access Academic Universe via the Electronic Indexes & Abstracts link.

Also available is Academic Access, the online version of Lexis-Nexis®
for the academic market. Academic Access is accessible
on two terminals in GSSI.
Training will be offered starting Fall semester.

CIAO (Columbia International
Affairs Online) is now available. CIAO provides one stop shopping
for those in the international affairs arena. Full text of conference proceedings,
working papers, and books as well as journal abstracts, and links to international
affairs internet sources is available. CIAO is available from
computers on campus, or remotely through Berkeley IP address recognition.
