Jewel of the Nile (1985)

King Solomon's Mines (1950)

Directors, Compton Bennett and Andrew Marton. Cast: Deborah Kerr, Stewart Granger, Richard Carlson, Hugo Haas, Lowell Gilmore. Filmed in Tanganyika, Uganda Protectorate, Kenya Colony and Protectorate, and the Belgian Congo. Adventurer Allan Quatermain is hired by an Englishwoman to lead the hunt for her missing husband who disappeared in an uncharted region of Africa while in search of King Solomon's legendary treasure. Quartermain isn't keen on having a woman on the expedition and he and Elizabeth quarrel regularly, but she and Quatermain eventually fall in love.

King Solomon's Mines (UK, 1937)

Fortune hunter Patrick O'Brien has left his daughter Kathy and guide Umbopa to trek across the desert in hopes of finding the fabled diamond mines of Solomon. Le Professionnel (France, 1981)

Director, Georges Lautner. Cast: Jean-Paul Belmodo, Cyrielle Claire, Jean Desailly, Marie-Christine Descouard, Elisabeth Margoni, Jean-Louis Richard, Robert Hossein. French secret agent Joss Baumont has been assigned the treacherous task of killing an African president. However, due to a series of drastic political changes, the mission is negated. The tables turned on Baumont when the person responsible for assigning him the task turned him in to the African authorities.

Mogambo (1953)

Directed by John Ford. Cast: Clark Gable, Ava Gardner, Grace Kelly, Donald Sinden, Laurence Naismith, Denis O'Dea. Clark Gable portrays Victor, a safari guide, in this remake of Gable's 1932 "Red Dust". Ava Gardner plays tough-hided, vulnerable Eloise, and Grace Kelly is the prim anthropologist's wife who catches Victor's roving eye. 115 min.
