Collection Description
The UC Berkeley Library collections support the major program in Peace and Conflict Studies, which is part of International and Area Studies. The collection covers primary and secondary sources serving the interdisciplinary undergraduate program in humanities and social sciences. The collections are located primarily in the Gardner (MAIN) Stacks at the Doe/Moffitt Libraries and at the Business and Economics Library. Peace and Conflict Studies students should also be aware of the sources from governmental agencies, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations which are organized through the Library's Government Information pages.
From the PACS web page, "The Peace and Conflict Studies major prepares students to understand the dynamics of peace and conflict and to contribute to the creation of more just and peaceable conditions in the world. Courses focus on the understanding of conflict, the history of peace efforts, conflict resolution, human rights, and world order. The founding premise of Peace and Conflict Studies is that war and other forms of violence are not inevitable or ineradicable, despite their omnipresence in human history."
