International Organizations

Asian Productivity Organization. Regional intergovernmental organization contributing to the socioeconomic development of Asia and the Pacific through enhancing productivity.

Caribbean Community. Caribbean regional IGO working to improve standards of living and work in the region.

European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP).
European agency that helps promote and develop vocational education and training in the European Union.

European Industrial Relations Observatory (EIRO). Monitoring instrument offering news and analysis on European industrial relations. A project of the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (see below).

European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions. EU agency providing information, advice and expertise on living and working conditions, industrial relations and managing change in Europe.

Inter-American Vocational Training Research and Documentation Centre (CINTERFOR). ILO Latin American research centre for vocational training: includes extensive collection of online publications.

GLADNET. Global Applied Disability Information and Research Network on Employment and Training.

International Labour Organization. The ILO is a UN specialized agency which seeks the promotion of social justice and internationally recognized human and labour rights. Organizational departments and sections include:

International Social Security Association. International organization bringing together institutions dealing with social security for countries of the world.

United Nations Global Compact. International initiative bringing companies together with UN agencies, labour and civil society to support universal environmental and social principles.

APPLIS. Database on the application of international labour standards, i.e. ratifications of ILO conventions and agreements by country.

CISDOC. ILO database of occupational health and safety, law and regulations.

Conditions of Work and Employment Database. Legal information from countries around the world on maternity protection, minimum wages and working time.

e.quality@work. ILO database of guidelines and legislation on equal employment opportunities in the workplace. Includes international and national information.

ILOAIDS. Legislative texts, codes of practice, guidelines, and policies dealing with HIV/AIDS and the world of work for countries around the world.

ILOLEX. Database of ILO labour standards: conventions, recommendations, ratifications, representations, complaints, interpretations, and other documents.

Statistics

APEC LMI database. Labour Market Information from the Asia Pacific Economic Corporation. Annual time series labour market data plus some economic data.

Eurostat. Data for EU countries on employment, labour force surveys, earnings, labour costs, labour policy, industrial disputes, etc. NOTE: Logon permits enhanced downloads for UCB patrons only. Ask at the Doe Reference Desk or contact the International Documents Librarian).

Foreign Labour Statistics. Provides international comparisons of compensation, productivity, labor force, employment and unemployment, and consumer prices. From the US department of labour.

International Labour Migration Statistics. Inflows and outflows of migrants by citizenship, employed persons by economic sector, etc.

ILO Bureau of Statistics. Portal for ILO statistical information. Some ILO data is online but many more data sets are available by request from the ILO.

ILO Labour Force Surveys. Household-based survey of work-related statistics for a wide range of countries and territories.

LABORSTA. The ILO statistical database. Includes wages and hours of work, employment & unemployment, consumer price indices. public sector data, and more. See also the ILO page on Global Labour Statistics available on request.

Social Security. ILO statistics on social security for the period 1990-96 and from 2003.

Social Security Programs throughout the World . From the US Social Security administration. Social security Information for 170 countries: old-age, survivors, disability, sickness, maternity, work injury, and family allowances.

SourceOECD. (UCB Only). Population and labour force statistics for OECD and non-OECD countries: employees, employers and self-employed persons, unpaid family workers, and employment by economic sector.

Statistical Information & Monitoring Programme on Child Labour (SIMPOC). Data and country reports on child labour from national child labour surveys.

World Development Indicators. Includes some international labour data, including child labour, unemployment and employment by sector.

ILO Standards and Fundamental Principles & Rights at Work. ILO department overseeing

ILOLEX. Database of ILO conventions, recommendations, ratifications, representations, complaints, interpretations, and other documents.

International Standard Classification of Occupations ISCO-88. International standards tool for organizing jobs into a clearly defined set of groups according to the tasks and duties undertaken in the job.

International Training Centre. ILO training centre offering courses in current thinking on international labour standards, decent work, employment, etc.

WebMILS. Database monitoring complicance with international labor standards, from the US Dept of Labor.
