African Index Medicus (AIM). From the WHO Regional Office in Africa. Index to African health literature and information sources.
CISDOC. From the International Labour Organization. Citations to documents on occupational health and safety, chemical safety data, law and regulations, journal articles, books and ILO conventions.
Database for HIV/AIDS Preventive Education. Material on preventive education and HIV/AIDS, from the UNESCO Regional Office for Education in Africa (French).
International Digest of Health Legislation. Contains a selection of national and international health legislation. Texts of legislation are summarized in English. Where possible, links are provided to web sites that contain full text.
Latin American and Caribbean Center Virtual Health Library (BIREME). Includes access to the Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information (LILACS) and other databases on many health topics.
HIV/AIDS Full-text Databank. Full-text database on HIV/AIDS Education consisting of books, reports, and articles. Nice subject breakdown. (UNESCO Bangkok).
Index Medicus for the South-East Asian Region. Database of articles published in health science journals within the WHO South-East Asia Region.
International Clearinghouse on Curriculum for HIV/AIDS Preventive Education. Provides educational resources including curriculum, learning and reference materials, policy/strategy, evaluation and teacher training for HIV/AIDS preventive education at all levels.
PubMed. (Access to some journal articles UC Only). Access to citations from MEDLINE, PreMEDLINE, and other journals in medicine and life sciences.
UNESCO Nairobi Clearinghouse on HIV/AIDS and Education. Articles on HIV/AIDS education as well as preventive education, gender and youth in Africa.
Virtual Health Sciences Library for the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Health Sciences digital library from the WHO regional office in the Eastern Mediterranean. Includes the Index Medicus for the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as systems for the WHO Regional Centre for Environmental Health Activities in (CEHA) in Jordan.
World Health Organization Library Database (WHOLIS). Online catalog of the World Health Organization library; includes access to books, journals and e-journals in many languages. Some full text.
World Health Organization Archives. Archives of the WHO. Archival collections are searchable via WHOLIS (see above).
World Health Organization Documentation. Documentation in all official languages of WHO for World Health Assembly (WHA) and Executive Board (EB) and Programme and Budget sessions. Includes resolution and decisions and archive back to 1998.
European Agency for Health and Safety at Work. EU agency dedicated to Occupational Safety and Health.
European Union Health and Consumer Protection Directorate General. Large EU portal on health and public health policy. See also the Health-EU Portal.
International Committee of the Red Cross. International organization offering humanitarian protection and assistance for victims of war and armed violence.
International Labour Organization: Programme on HIV/AIDS. ILO section on HIV/AIDS as a workplace issue.
Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). Chief UN agency leading the global fight against HIV/AIDS. Key publications included on the site.
Office of the United Nations High Commissioner on Human Rights. Section of the OHCHR web site on HIV/AIDS and human rights.
UNESCO, Culture and HIV/AIDS. UNESCO portal on culturally appropriate approaches to HIV prevention and care.
UN Inter-Agency Standing Committee: HIV/AIDS in Emergency Settings. UN committee established in response to a GA Resolution calling for strengthened humanitarian assistance to victims of HIV/AIDS in emergency settings.
UNIFEM Web Portal on Gender and Aids. Comprehensive gender and HIV/AIDS portal for information on the gender dimensions of HIV/AIDS.
UNFPA Population and Reproductive Health Portal. From the United Nations Population Fund.
World Health Organization. United Nations specialized agency for the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of Health. Oversees the following regional offices, many of which host separate databases and publications. Publishes Bulletin of the World Health Organization.

Communicable Disease Global Atlas. Brings together standardized data and statistics for infectious diseases at the country, regional, and global levels.
Demographic Health Surveys. Compilation of health surveys from more than 75 countries worldwide. From Measure DHS, funded in part by USAID.
DOLPHN (Data Online for Population, Health and Nutrition). Key health indicators obtained from international data sources, including the WHO, UNDP, and UNAIDS.
Human Mortality Database. From the UC Berkeley Demography Department. Detailed mortality, population and life expectancy data for 23 countries. Also links to the Human Life-Table Database, with data for over 40 countries.
OECD Health Data (UCB Only). Comprehensive source of statistics on health and health systems in OECD countries. Requires installation of special software, library use only on selected workstations.
Population Reference Bureau: Health and Population Data. Database provided by a civil society organization. Includes 137 variables for 220 countries in the areas of health, population, education, employment and more. Current year only.
Regional Core Health Data Initiative. Health indicators for countries and territories in the Americas from period 1995 -. From the Pan-American Health Organization.
Statistics by Disease or Condition. WHO statistical information available organized by disease, condition or topic.
WHO Global Infobase. Data warehouse that collects, stores and displays information on chronic diseases and their risk factors for all WHO member states.
WHO/Europe Statistical Data. Excellent system of databases on a wide range of health topics, including the European Health for All Database. Some data is in raw format and requires the use of statistical application software.
WHO Mortality Database. Includes detailed mortality data by cause for specific countries. These are raw data files with documentation and require expertise with statistical applications. Ask at the Doe library reference desk for help.
World Health Report. WHO flagship publication. Each report includes an assessment of global health, statistics, and a focus on a specific subject.
World Health Statistics. Online statistical reference volume on a basic health indicators. Include the majority of health indicators selected for monitoring progress towards the Millennium Development Goals.
WHOSIS: A Guide to Statistical Information at WHO. Gateway site to statistical data from the World Health Organization. Includes sections on disease, mortality, health financing, and health inequalities.
