International Energy Organizations

International Energy Agency (OECD). OECD agency advancing the security of energy supply, growth and sustainable development. Not to be confused with the International Atomic Energy Agency (see below).

Organization for the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). International organization formed to coordinate the petroleum policies of member countries. Good publications are on the site, including an interactive Statistical Bulletin.

Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC). Different from OPEC; this agency was formed in 1968 with an objective to provide support for the Arab oil industry.

UN Ad-Hoc Interagency Task Force on Energy. UN task force formed to facilitate cooperation among UN agencies and programmes in energy and related areas.

UN Division for Sustainable Development. Includes the Energy and Transport Branch. UN documents and information on energy and sustainable development.

World Bank Group Energy Program. Information on the World Bank energy policy, including documents and publications on energy-related issues.

International Atomic Energy Organizations

International Atomic Energy Agency. Main UN autonomous agency specializing in the peaceful uses of atomic energy. Includes:

Nuclear Energy Agency. OECD agency dedicated to the safe, environmentally friendly and economical use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Documents and statistics of the agency are available via SourceOECD (UC Access Only).

United Nations & Disarmament. From the UN Department of Disarmament Affairs, the main UN agency promoting nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.

United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Nuclear Radiation (UNSCEAR). UN agency mandated to assess and report levels and effects of exposure to ionizing radiation internationally.

World Health Organization: Ionizing Radiation. WHO agency studying the effects of radiation exposure on humans.
