UNBISnet: UN Bibliograpic Information System. Bibliographic files with citations to UN documents indexed by the United Nations Dag Hammarskjd Library in New York and the UN Library in Geneva.

Women's Studies International. (UCB Only). Indexes books, journals, magazines, and other resources related to research and commentary on women and women's issues, feminism, and gender.

International Labour Organization (ILO) Bureau for Gender Equality. ILO unit to promote equality between women and men throughout the organization

Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights on Violence against Women, its Causes and Consequences. From the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

UN Economic Commission for Europe: Gender Activities.

United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. Commission of the UN Economic and Social Council dedicated to gender equality and the advancement of women.

United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). UN Committee established under Article 17 of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. The UN Treaty Body Database contains periodic reports of nations signatory to the convention.

United Nations Division for the Advancement of Women. UN Division dedicated to the improvement of the status of women and the achievement of their equality with men.

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees: Refugee Women. UNHCR site on women refugees; includes links to publications

United Nations Inter-Agency Network on Women and Gender Equality. Network of Gender Focal Points in United Nations offices, specialized agencies, funds and programmes.

United Nations International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW). UN entity mandated to promote and undertake research and training programs for the advancement of women and gender equality worldwide.

United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia & the Pacific: Gender and Development.

United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM). The women's fund at the United Nations. Provides financial and technical assistance for programmes to foster women's empowerment and gender equality.

United Nations Population Fund: Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment. UNFPA section on Gender equality.

United Nations Millennium Development Goals: Gender Equality. Target 4 of the MDGs -- "Eliminate gender disparity in primary and secondary education, preferably by 2005, and to all levels of education no later than 2015."

UNESCO Section for Women and Gender Equality. Section responsible for promoting and monitoring gender issues throughout the organization.

World Bank Gender & Women. World Bank section on Gender & Development.

World Conference on Women. Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing China. Includes text of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

World Health Organization (WHO) Gender Mainstreaming. WHO office responsible for creating knowledge, awareness, and responsibility for gender mainstreaming among health professionals.


GenderStats - Database of Gender Statistics. Gender statistics from the World Bank, covering poverty, education, economic development, demographics, and political participation for world's countries.

Lexis/Nexis Statistical (UCB Only). Index and abstracts from the American Statistics Index (ASI), Statistics Reference Index (SRI)], and Index to International Statistics (IIS). Materials on ASI and IIS are on fiche in GREF. Materials in SRI are on fiche at the Business Library.

UNECE Gender Statistics Database. Gender data from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. Includes population, labor, education, public life, health, crime, and violence.

Statistics and Indicators on Women & Men. From the United Nations. Includes statistical tables of national and regional data on women as compared to men in family, household, health, education, work, and politics.

United Nations Statistical Common Database (UCB Only). Wide range of economic, social, cultural, and demographic indicators for most countries.
