Resources that list, or provide access to, materials typically found in archives and used for primary source research. Examples include manuscripts, diaries, letters, first-hand accounts or documentary sources on a subject, person, event or issue.

Listings of articles in journals, magazines, newspapers, etc. Many include abstracts (article summaries). Some include or link to the full text of articles.

Reference Reviews Europe Annual began in 1995 as a way to disseminate reviews of European reference titles in English. Many of the entries in Reference Reviews Europe Online are abstracts of reviews appearing in Informationsmittel: IFB, a German journal. Most of the reviews are of current reference titles.

- American Comparative Literature Association
Founded in 1960, the ACLA is the “principal learned society in the United States for scholars whose work involved several literatures and cultures as well as the premises of cross-cultural literary study itself.”
- International Comparative Literature Association/Association internationale de littérature comparée
Founded in 1954, the ICLA sponsors triennial congresses and fosters the study of literature from an international point of view. One committee is responsible for publishing the monograph series, The Comparative History of Literatures in European Languages. A committee concentrates on translation while another focuses on inter- and intra-regional relationships outside the European and American sphere. It publishes the proceedings of the congresses, and informational ICLA Bulletin, and Literary Research. There are numerous regional associations, all with their own web sites.
- Southern Comparative Literature Association
With North Carolina State University, publishes The Comparatist.
