Materials from the Gardner (MAIN) Stacks and NRLF have loan periods that vary according to the type of material and the status of the borrower.Books and monographs from the Gardner (MAIN) Stacks and Moffitt Library circulate to undergraduates and fee-card library users for one month, to graduate students for three months, and to UC Berkeley faculty for one year. Most periodicals from the Gardner (MAIN) Stacks circulate for one week to all borrowers.
When materials are checked out, a print receipt with the due date is given to indicate the length of the loan period. It is the cardholder's responsibility to note the due date for materials and to return or renew them by those dates. The "My Oskicat" link in Oskicat can provide a list of items you currently have checked out of the UC Berkeley Libraries. If a title is recalled by another library user before the original due date, the borrower having the item will be notified by e-mail informing them that the item is now due within seven days.
Return material to the circulation desk during library hours. After hours, return books to a library book drop. Refer to the owning library for information on returning non-book materials. Return interlibrary loan material to 133 Doe.
Return Receipts may be requested from a circulation desk for returned material. Materials damaged or incomplete should be brought immediately to the owning library circulation desk to discuss repair or replacement options that may be available. The Library does not keep a record of receipts issued.
Items checked out to one borrower may be recalled by another borrower. Recalled items must be returned to the library within one week. To recall an item, present your library card and the title or call number of the item you need at either of the Doe & Moffitt circulation desks. You may also recall items online using the Oskicat request option. You will be notified by e-mail when the item is available to be picked up.
Items not found on the shelf in the Gardner (MAIN) Stacks or Moffitt Library may have a search request placed for them. To request a search, present the title or call number of the item at either Doe & Moffitt circulation desk. When the item is located, you will be notified by e-mail.
Library users with overdue material will have borrowing privileges blocked until the items are returned or fees are paid. Replacement and processing fees are charged for overdue materials that are not returned. Questions about bills and blocked or revoked privileges should be directed to the Privileges Desk (Doe Library, Floor 1).
Specialized collections are also available in other Doe & Moffitt Collections.
