Create an "optional template" template with Composer

You can create a template either before, or after you add page-specific information.

  1. Create a template before you add page-specific information:
    1. follow the instructions at add the optional template.
    2. delete all of the page-specific information on the page (i.e. do not cut and paste anything but the top and bottom navigation graphics, and information in to the new table).
    3. under Format, click on Page Colors and Properties.
    4. make sure that the General "tab" is selected.
    5. change the name of the file to template.
    6. make sure that you change a file's name when you use the template!
    7. save the file as template.html

    2. after you save the file (keep the name that the file has on the Library Web):
      1. click on File.
      2. click on Save As.
      3. name the file template.html
      4. delete all of the page-specific information from the table data cells (keep only the top and bottom navigation graphics, and information).
      5. under Format, click on Page Colors and Properties.
      6. make sure that the General "tab" is selected.
      7. change the name of the file to template.
      8. make sure that you change a file's name when you use the template!
      9. save the file again.
