WebGenDB Best Practices

WebGenDB is a web-based interface for the underlying control database GenDB. The process of describing digital objects begins with inputting information via WebGenDB.

WebGenDB implements a structural approach for metadata input, reflecting the hierarchic nature of archival description as well as the materials within the collections being described as digital objects.

GenDB houses the descriptive, structural and administrative metadata for the materials being digitized for web presentation, and outputs the metadata using the Metadata Encoding and Transmission Standard (METS)2 format.
