The Africana Librarians Council (ALC) was founded in 1957 as part of the African Studies Association (ASA) under the name Archives/Libraries Committee. The ALC continues today as an ASA-sponsored organization. Members of ASA whether they are librarians, archivists or documentalists working with materials from and about Africa or scholars interested in the preservation of or access to Africana may join the ALC.

UC Berkeley is hosting the ALC/CAMP Spring Meetings for the first time since 1987.

The Bancroft Hotel is located across the street from campus.  It is one block from the International House (site of Friday's meetings), and a short walk from the Doe Library (site of Thursday's reception and Saturday's CAMP meeting).  Continential breakfast included. 

**Hotel does not have an elevator.  Please book at the UC Berkeley Women's Faculty Club if you require an elevator.**

Numerous restaurants are located within walking distance of the UC Berkeley, especially in downtown Berkeley around Shattuck Avenue, and in north Berkeley on Shattuck Avenue. 

Oakland and San Francisco provide choices too numerous to list, many accessible to BART trains and other public transit.  Oakland has a number of restaurants featuring food from the Horn of Africa and West Africa.
