You might want to start by first taking a look at some more general or established scholarship in books via Oskicat, the library catalog.

Oskicat, the UC Berkeley library catalog, is a great place to start your research. You can get a good idea of the kinds of scholarly approaches that exist for your topic and dig up some important essays and books that will lead to other citations to go deeper.

Google can be a good place to start if you know very little about your topic. You can find simple outlines and general knowledge about topics on sites like Wikipedia, but be careful about using this information in your paper. Wikipedia is not a scholarly source and explicitly forbids the inclusion of any original research on their site. The surface-level writing of Wikipedia is the exact opposite of the kinds of in-depth analysis you want to engage with in a scholarly research project!
