Lake Merritt Wildlife Refuge and Nature Center

This site is home to North America's oldest wildlife refuge and the Rotary's Interpretive Center which provides information and education about the natural environment of Oakland to its surrounding community. The Center offers a variety of outreach programs and summer day camps. 

City of Oakland Creek Protection and Watershed Improvement Program

Oakland's watershed has fifteen main creeks with over thirty tributaries. Because of this unique and precious resource, the City of Oakland, by implementing the Watershed Improvement Program (WIP), has made environmental protection of creeks a priority. 

BaySavers (Alameda County Resource Conservation District)

The Alameda County Resource Conservation District and the Natural Resources
Conservation Service provide assistance to local landowners for reducing soil erosion, conserving and protecting water quality, and solving other natural resource problems. Additionally, the District provides information and educational outreach within urban and rural communities, encouraging good stewardship of our natural resources.

As the Nation's largest water, earth, biological science and civilian mapping agency, the USGS provides some of  their information as educational material. The product line includes a variety of teaching packets, booklets, posters, fact sheets, and CD-ROM's designed for K-12 educators. 

EPA Environmental Education Center

This extremeley useful site features a collection of fact sheets, brochures, and web pages that you can use to explain environmental issues. These resources offer basic and clear information to assist you in teaching your students about the environment.
