Creek Restoration Project - Natural Resource Projects Inventory
In 1999, the Urban Creeks Council of California (UCC) developed
a pilot program to assist private property owners with stream management
decisions on their properties. Through this program, UCC offers
alternative low cost, environmentally friendly, suggestions to conventional
bank stabilization methods. Several homeowners who lived along Alhambra
Creek in Martinez, California decided to pursue a joint restoration
project. UCC developed a bank stabilization conceptual design for
the site, however, the homeowners decided not to go ahead with the
project and erosion problems persist at the site.
