remember this existential effort in ALA, now that you mention it!
The reality of the marketplace, by the way, is that WE'RE the buyers,
THEY'RE the sellers. Librarians have got to develop enough backbone to
exercise political and economic clout in this marketplace. If the store
is screwing you over, stop shopping there. In the realm of video
collection development, it has been my experience that there are most
often always suitable alternatives to be found...or there are other
places to get what you want.
