You are correct.
The last thing we'd contemplate doing is digitizing from a VHS cassette or
worse yet, a 16mm. We always look for a 3/4" (or better) master to digitize
Many programs are now produced digitally in first place, of course, so
pressing a DVD doesn't result in much (if any) loss of quality.
