We do not currently have a media librarian; however, we have had
in the past. This position is tenure-track faculty just like
all other librarians only with a media speciality. The position
requires some reference desk hours and all other requirements of
library faculty. Same pay.

I am trying to propose a new administrative position for our department, =
that of a librarian (MLS required) to catalog audio-visual media and =
supervise 3 clerical staff and 6 - 12 student workers when they perform =
cataloging-related tasks, and have found that the other librarian =
positions on our campus are classified as either faculty or clerical =
staff. Because no other position like the one I am proposing exists on =
our campus (and it seems even in our college system), I have no =
guidelines on which to base a salary recommendation. Do any of you =
classify librarians as described, and if so, what base salary ranges do =
you assign these positions?=20

I would appreciate your responses to this inquiry and welcome any =
