NC-17

Hello,
The Amos Library system does not use the MPAA ratings for collection
development decisions. Each film is weighed on critical reviews and/or
popularity. The selection criteria are spelled out in our video
acquisitions procedure. We do have some MPAA X and NC-17 rated films as
well as a few director's cuts which are not rated. For instance, we
have "Last Tango in Paris" but "Pink Flamingos" did not meet the
selection criteria.

Remember, when "Midnight Cowboy" was originally released, it was labeled
an X. When re-released several years after winning the Best Picture
Oscar, it was an R. What had changed?
