question from filmmaker/distributor

It's been very interesting reading your thoughts about how best to
select videtapes for your libraries. Some of you may know from the
videonews postings that I distribute three documentaries I made on
homelessness, police accountability and involuntary psychiatric
treatment. I'm trying not to cross that line of promoting my work.
Here's my question.

When is the best time to do a direct mailing to faculty at colleges and
community colleges? If I send out a mailing in April would that be less
effective than waiting until August? It's a very big expense for me,
yet I gather from other distributors, and from your own words here, that
educators still prefer to have a piece of paper in their hands.

Also, what other suggestions do you have for effectively reaching you
and others not on this list with my documentaries?
