I don't remember, but does "The Story of English" have an
episode that traces language back in time? Also, I seem to remember
a NOVA episode in recent years. I'll try to find the title.

I have a mass communications/journalism instructor who is looking for a
program "that addresses this topic with high scholarship and production
values." We have purchased The Mightiest Sword: The Development of
Written Language only because it is adequate enough at this point. I
would appreciate your suggestions for scholarly titles and their
sources.

Thanks in advance,
