Let me temper a posting made here recently: ALA Council's vote to rescind
the endorsement of Turn Off Your TV Week was overwhelming, but not
unanimous. During the discussion of the motion to reconsider the
endorsement, some councilors--identifying themselves as school
librarians--spoke in favor of leaving the endorsement in place. Also,
blame for the endorsement was placed squarely on the shoulders of ALA
Executive Director Bill Gordon--by Gordon himself. There was no discussion
of how to handle similar matters in the future.
