If public librarians want to increase circulation or bring more people into
their libraries why not take a positive approach rather than flog the dead
horse of tv-viewing versus whatever it is we OMNIPOTENT MASTERS OF THE
INFORMATION UNIVERSE deem are worthwhile, positive, uplifting activities? You
might even advertise your great programs for the public on, what-else, TV.
My grandmother once told me that when radio first came out people thought if
one listened to it for more than an hour at a time it would hurt your ears.
I remember when a similar fear was spread about TV viewing. Watch too much
and you'll go blind. Which may, for some, recall another quaint admonition.
