Digital media and "Infoactive"

The near-exclusion of public interest considerations threatens to turn the
new digital, interactive television (subject of so much of Gary's news
digest today) into nothing but the ultimate direct marketing machine.
Picture being able to interact with the Budweiser frogs on a first-name
basis.

One of the few groups attempting to do anything about this is the Center for
Media Education in Washington, DC. Their newsletter, Infoactive, is
particularly informative and I urge all Video-L'ers to subscribe. This
month's edition is devoted to DTV and public health. Check them out at
http://www.cme.org/cme.
