We do not security strip our CDs and we put our barcode on the
jewel case, back side. However, we are an academic library and
we have our CDs locked up in glass cabinets. They circulate for
one week, 5 titles per patron.

Oh, we put the call number both on the CD in permanent ink and
on the jewel case with labels.

CD PROCESSING

Please respond directly to me with information on how you process your
compact discs for circulation, including how you security strip and barcode
them. We presently use a 3m CD security overlay on top of the CD and we use
a double barcode - the machine readable on the outside case and an eye
readable on top of the CD overlay. The small eye readable strip seems to be
causing problems as the strip wears and the CD gets caught in certain players.
The eye readable strip enables staff to quickly match the CD with the case.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
