Just wanted to let everyone know who hasn't heard about it about a newly
publication I just received:

MAGNETIC MEDIA PRESERVATION SOURCEBOOK, edited by Mona Jimenez & Lisa
Platt. Published (1998) by Media Alliance.

According to the accompanying announcement, the publication is available
free of charge to "non-profit organizations, libraries, archives and
museums throughout New York State," (grant funds from NYSCA, and additional
support from the NEA, and WNET). I believe, though I may be wrong here,
that contributors to the publication were also sent a copy. Correct me if
I'm mistaken.

Quoting from the press release, The report itself represents a directory of
"fifty-one entries from vendors, consultants, organizations, funders,
government entities and working groups, containing contact information and
descriptions of major services, activities and programs." Also, the
publication contains a section on "Internet Resources" as well as a section
on "Bibliographic Resources." Other areas include: information on
educational programs, equipment/supplies vendors, and groups and
organizations involved in current/ongoing preservation projects.

To order the publication (cost is $10, check or money order, to cover
shipping and handling):

Additional information about both this publication and Media Alliance, etc.
is available on their website at: <http://www.mediaalliance.org>

Media Alliance is hoping to reach the widest possible audience with this
publication, so please pass this information along, as appropriate.
