Re: Security strips for videos

Dear Betty,

Our library uses the 3-M system and security tape our videos. We
purchased the special desenstizer for videos. The Circulation librarian
felt it was too much trouble, so we she hands the videos over the security
gate to the patrons. Generally, we have had no problems. During one
semester, we had one student who ignored the signs about using the regular
desenstizer on videos and wiped five videos. We never found out which
student did it.

Also, we bar code all our videos. We put the bar code on the video. It
does cover up part of the label. We decide to put the bar code on the
video, so that circulation students would make sure that the video (and
also the right video) was in the box.

I hope this helps.

Sincerely,
