The Center for Media and Independent Learning (CMIL), University of
California Extension's statewide educational media distribution program,
located in Berkeley, California, is seeking a half-time Media Marketing
Specialist (Continuing Education Specialist) to help expand its media
The Media Marketing Specialist will be responsible for locating, selecting,
negotiating for, and acquiring new educational media products for CMIL to
distribute, and will also work in the planning, development, and
implementation of marketing and promotional initiatives to expand CMIL's
media sales worldwide.
Applicants are expected to have extensive experience, professional
contacts, and good standing in the educational media field, possess a broad
general knowledge of college and university and K-12 curricula, and have a
thorough understanding of the role of educational media in enhancing the
teaching process. A Masters degree in a related field or equivalent
professional experience is required.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal and
communication skills, successful experience in the marketing of educational
media products, the ability to accomplish a variety of complex tasks under
the pressure of competing deadlines and constantly changing demands, and
excellent writing skills. Applicants should also demonstrate substantial
computer experience in word processing, database, and page-layout
The position is a non-Senate academic appointment, starting July 1, 1998,
and annually renewable. Salary range is $39,200 - $43,200 (full-time rate)
