The MPPA system is NOT a legal system just a voluntary one. Many localities
have laws against allowing "pornography" to be available to minors. Up
until the incident in which THE TIN DRUM was seized by the police in
Oklahoma City, I could not imagine a situation in which a library would
have any problem. This particular incident will go to trial this summer and
remember the reason it is alleged that The Tin Drum is illegal is because
they claim it is "child pornography" which has no first amendment
protection. Unless you have some actual porn pictures in the collection I
see no legal problem. It seems to be a matter of your own policy.
