We, too, negotiated a price to duplicate video sets off of the aged
and dying 16mm film. As you know there is a degeneration of quality
when you make copies and the original wasn't much,
picture-quality-wise, to begin with. Now, all I hear is complaints
about the quality. You can never win. If these 3 films are such a
MUST HAVE for academic collections, you would think someone could
remaster them ? Preserve them? Put them in some other format? They
are too expensive to keep purchasing in limited-age formats and too
much of a classic not to own.

We have several departments that helped the library buy this series many years
ago. In December 1997 when they pleaded for a second copy for an off-campus
library site, we talked with Sharon K. Shostrom at Psychological & Educational
Films and arranged a much better price for the rights to duplicate the set.
I would contact her at 714-640-4029 if you would need such an arrangement.
I just want to share the possibility.
