re: Institutional prices

Here's one for the books -- I haven't had this in my twenty years in film.

A professor at University of Buffalo called one of our directors a fool
(actually the the director said the word was schmuck but I wanted to write a
polite translation) for allowing his distributor to sell the director's video
for $49.95 since "we pay $350 for Trinh Minh Ha tapes."

We had reduced the price as our usual policy when we released the video to
the public (and it was shown on public television), but now we have to raise
it back to $195 to institutions.

This isn't a question and I don't want to start this controversy all over
again (nor will this change our policy on other tapes), but I needed to vent!
