The question of new turntables is on my mind, too.
Eventually our equipment will have to be replaced. Our
listening facilities house 4 Radio Shack CD players as well
as 3 Technics turntables, ca. 1975-80. I can't be definite
about the date but they were made before black was the
color of choice. They have the chrome finish on them which
is so much easier to read.

Other than occasional maintenance and cartridge
replacement, the Technics models keep on truckin'. They
have been in use for nearly 15 years, most of which took
place before 1992. We purchase styluses from Radio
Shack. The students have to check out this part for use
because it is stolen if left on the machine.

The turntable is attached to a Radio Shack amp which
delivers fair quality of sound. Overall, our set-up has worked
quite well for the students who use the equipment.

Let me know if I can assist in any other way.
