I was reading a videolib listserv message concerning availablility of a
rental title on video and was very surprised when a person responded that
they had tried to leasae that title from Films, Inc. but could not because
they were "going out of business." Has anyone else heard the same thing.
If so, it seems that they are joining an increasing number of educational
producer/distributors that are either going out of business or merging
with other companies (like New Dimesion Media being sold to a book
company in Jacksonville, IL.) Do you videolibbers think this is a trend?
It seems that our unique click of independent video producers is on the
verge of becoming extinct. Any news from the NFVM, now National Media
Market (NMM) on this trend. I'd hate to think that our educational video
fare will be reduced to National Geographic and PBS stuff - its great,
don't get me wrong, but its so formula based. Tell me what you think.
