"The Cyberspace Lexicon" (1994) by Bob Cotton defines computer animation:

"The display of a series of computer-generated images in sequence at a
speed where the 'persistance of vision' creates an illusion of continuous
movement. Most commonly refers to computer-generated three dimensional
images. May also refer to computer systems that mimic conventional cel
animation, or the simple diagrammatic animations that can be produced
using authoring packages such as 'HyperCard' or 'SuperCard'."

Three sentences but sounds pretty good.
